Operations Manager – Fire Doors Rite

Location: Basingstoke, with regular travel to sites across the UK
Salary: Up to £70,000 plus incentives and a company vehicle or car allowance

Fire Doors Rite is a specialist fire door installation and maintenance business working across Ministry of Defence sites and student accommodation. We are a small team with ambitious plans: the business aims to triple in size over the coming years, and we need an Operations Manager who can help us grow without losing the quality of our work.

This is a chance to join early in that journey. You will work closely with our Managing Director, taking ownership of much of the day to day operational work he currently manages himself. You will lead three experienced Project Managers, with an Estimator and Operations Coordinator also reporting to you.

The role is about keeping several projects moving at once while making sure the next wave of work is properly planned. Our sites run from Scotland to the South Coast, so you will need a clear view of what is happening now, what is coming next and where your team needs support.

What you’ll be doing

• Supporting your project managers in the delivery of fire door installation, maintenance and remedial projects from customer order through to handover.

• Building programmes of work for upcoming projects and keeping labour, materials and site access aligned with them.

• Supporting Project Managers to resolve problems early and keep customers informed when plans change.

• Making sure surveys, replacement doors and other materials are ready when site teams need them.

• Overseeing safety, quality and compliance records, including RAMS, site documentation, inspections and final sign-off.

• Keeping a close eye on project costs, variations and productivity.

• Developing the team and helping shape the processes needed as the business grows.

Who we’re looking for

You will have a strong background in fire door operations and a track record of managing multiple projects and teams across different locations. You will understand the practical and compliance requirements of fire door inspection, installation, repair and replacement, and be comfortable speaking with customers as well as site teams.

You will also need sound commercial judgement, a relevant fire door qualification such as IFE Level 3 or equivalent, a health and safety qualification such as SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely, and a full UK driving licence.

Just as important is how you work. Growth brings changing priorities and the occasional difficult day. We need someone who stays constructive, makes decisions, supports their people and is willing to adapt. With national projects and a growing business, this role will call for flexibility beyond a routine 9 to 5 schedule.

Our intention is for this role to grow into an Operations Director position as Fire Doors Rite expands. That progression will be based on the impact you make, the capability you demonstrate and the way you lead the team.
